formatting question

Hi folks

I want to typeset a regular newsletter using lyx, and want to hear if
anyone has done something similar / if there are any sty files around?
I have not found any (other than an old 1992 tex macro).

Is it possible to have lines between columns, running vertically? And
is it possible to use an image as a watermark?  

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
