Many thanks for your reply. I think this is exactly what the problem is - I
had put a cross-reference to part of the main text in the figure caption. Is
there a way to get away with this or should I just take the reference out?
Also on a related note, what would be the best way to make the figure
captions more distinct from the main text e.g. have them in a smaller font
or have a line between the caption and the main text?
