Hello, join the discussion of the production of good pdf files. Just tried the dvipdfm and i have to admit that both the installation and the outlook was great, (with at least times fonts). The latest version of dvipdfm should also support the use of eps files. I can highly recommend this package. Seems to be a very nice program. There are dvipdfm rpm - packages which can be traced from http://www.tug.org/interest.html#packages Would be nice to hear from your experiences. I use a redhat 6.1. The installation was trivial and the first feeling was great. The problem here is that there is no free Type 1 ec-fonts, which LyX seems to use as the default. I have learned that the result should be terrific on the acrobat - reader window, if one use ae fonts instead of ec-font, when creating the dvi - file. Nontheless, the printed output is still of high quality. (The ae truetype fonts comes shipped with redhat linux 6.1., the ec truetype fonts not! (The latter I've learned are not available in the public domain)) Not tried the dvipdfm & acrobat reader with the ae fonts yet, cause I do not know how to change the default font in lyx. Here I would ask for some aid. What is the easy way to switch lyx to user ae fonts as the default? Anybody with a quick answer. Which files should be edited and how! Anyway, commincation today requires high quality pdf files. Feel that this issue is important. (Would be nice to be able to switch the default fonts between ec and ae more easily from the LyX interface) Best, Staffan
