You should pretend that you have sgmtools v2.0 installed... :)
This ca be done, creating a file with executable permissions in your path
called sgmtools, then run configure in lyx and... the docbook document layout
will be available to you...
Tell me if this doesn't work...
As you know the preview dvi and ps will not work, but that should make the
trick for you...
