lyxexport is a program that contacts a running LyX, or starts one, to
export files in various formats:
> lyxexport --ps myfile.lyx
Currently supported formats are: ps, dvi, latex, ascii, pdf.
An option to count words is also present:
> lyxexport --count myfile.lyx
myfile: 2500 words on 500 lines
lyxexport comes with detailed documentation, see the README file in the
distribution. The manpage is also online at the site below.
*IMPORTANT NOTE*:
lyxexport cannot be used with LyX 1.0.4 without applying a patch AND
installing the LyX::Client perl module (see below for both).
To use with other 1.0.x versions of LyX, another patch must be applied.
This means that it is some work to install lyxexport. Since such a feature
has been requested many times, however, I make the software available now.
This situation is not likely to improve before the next stable LyX series
of realeses (1.2.x or whatever).
*THIS IS BETA SOFTWARE*:
lyxexport should not delete your files since it always works on copies of
them, but I guarantee nothing.
I welcome suggestions for improvement and bug reports.
