I also tried LyX on Solaris 2.6 with the vnc client on NT: no core dump here but the following message with the VNC server: "In flvisual.c[217]: Can't find an appropriate visual" LyX does not start. With the solstice PC client X server (=PC-Xware 5.02) LyX works fine on my laptop. I do not use it that way, however: got Suse Linux installed in a dual boot config for running LyX and kLyX....
