I am sure you have a good reason for wanting this, but would you care
to tell it?
If you are going to have your thesis printed on a duplex printer it
will look a lot nicer with the default output.
The margin prob, do as Jean-Marc said and set Pages to one.
The other problem might be solved by adding "openany" to the extra
optins box on the same popup.
