Unfortunately, this is not possible right now. The only way would be
to do the replacement on the plain text you got from word with any
good text editor.

I'm moving forever from MSW and Word and I make a lot of type writing too.
I use 'wordview' from V.B.Wagner <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -I don't remember the site
but I found it searching "word+processor+filter+linux" or something
like that. Wordview picks your *.doc files and outputs to plain ascii.
Indeed it gets straight quotes. Sorry.
