Dear Andreas,

many thanks.

In general the Intro manual is shown after LyX has been installed. So when you see the file a LaTeX distribution is already installed. For example the Win installer automatically installs MiKTeX if this or TeXLive is not yet installed. For Mac there is a similar system. For Unix users we have an item in the splash.lyx file to inform the user that on some Linux distributions some language packages are necessary for TeXLive.

Besides this the goal of LyX is to hide the internals of LaTeX. If the user is interested he will learn this later when looking at the UserGuide. So the Intro is meant to encourage the user to step over to the Tutorial. Therefore your information is not for the Intro manual.

I had a look at your file and it was created with LyX 2.0.x while the current version is LyX 2.1.4. You should therefore update your LyX.

I see in your addition typos. Does the LyX spellchecker not work for you? This should not be an offense I am asking because if it doesn't work for you we should know his.

I'll be afraid to help you in documantions for beginners.

Why are you afraid? Every help and annotation is welcome.

regards Uwe
