In general LyX's quotation environment is designed to give the reader of
your book a visual feedback about quotations. You can use it, but don't
have to.
Anyway, the normal way is to
1. select that the new paragraph you want to write is a quotation
(shortcut Alt+a+Q)
2. insert a quotation mark (Shift+2)
3. either copy in there your quotation
or type it in
4. insert the second quotation mark (Shift+2)
Personally, I think that this is intuitive and fast. If you nevertheless
need the quotation marks to be added automatically, please ask on the
lyx-users mailing list ([email protected]). I'm sure someone there
knows how to achieve this.
