Extended.lyx reads in part:

Database: enter the name of your .bib file *without* the .bib
extension. For searching multiple .bib files, just enter them in the
desired order, separated by commas.

...

Leaving off the .bib used to work, but I recently upgraded to 1.1.6 and I
found by trial and error that we now need to put the .bib extension in for
citations to work. Othewrwise I get [?] in the printout and "I found no
database files" in the message logs.

So I suggest patching the documentation to specify that you now need ot
include the .bib extension.

...

More generally a lot changed with the upgrade to 1.1.6. A quick summary
might have been useful. E.g. I had to mess round after the upgrade to get
printing and viewing to work. It's not obvious that's what Edit ->
Reconfigure does - I did it be wiping lyxrc.defaults from my ~/.lyx
folder.

Anyway, just some suggestions if you have time.

Cheers,
Matthew.
