Nope. It's Preview that is opened then. In fact, if I export the

Only
when I choose 'View' do I get Quicktime Player.
It's actually something strange about the way the new mechanism for
finding default viewers interacts with the OS. If you have never
explicitly set something as the default viewer for .pdf files, the
Finder thinks Preview.app is the default viewer, whereas LyX seems
to be
told that Quicktime Player is the default viewer. The solution is to
locate a .pdf file in the Finder (any one: it doesn't matter), select
File > Get Info ..., and change the "Open with" application to
what you
want. (This may require selecting something other than
Preview.app, and
then reselecting Preview.app.) Then click on the "Change all..."
button,
confirm that this is what you want to do, and LyX should now
recognize
Preview.app as the default .pdf viewer.
pdflatex's pdfviewer is set to "auto" here as well but is opened in
Quicktime. PDFs in Finder do open with "Preview" and I have set and
confirmed that pdfs should be opened with Preview using the method
proposed above.
I also have an add-on system preference called "Default App" installed
that shows that pdfs should be opened using Preview, to no avail.
Any more hints on what could be wrong here?
Try going to Finder, switch the default "open with" application to
something else, then switch it back to Preview. Does that work?
