Let me rephraze then. Is it wise to merge another largish patch before
we have worked the worst kinks out of the last one.

By the way, I am trying to get a grasp of what needs to be done WRT unicode. I feel lost in this matter and I fear that it will take a long time before the trunk will stabilize. Maybe I'm alone in this case but I need some direction if I am to help. I've asked already but you didn't answer so I'll ask again as I presume you are the one who knows:

1) What exactly needs to be done? A task list with brief description would be appreciated.
2) How can I fix this endianness problem on windows?
2-a) how do I convert the lyx file to unicode so I can load them in English rather than Chinese? 2-b) how do I fix the display of inset labels to be in english on Windows? (I suppose this is not the case under linux?)

Thanks in advance,
Abdel.
