I just committed changes to remove mentions to this mirror from our
side, and asked for the old mirror to be removed.

Ouch!  We had a change of personnel back then, and this fell off the radar
screen.

We should probably delete the remains, since (a) LyX seems to work perfectly
well without it; and (b) I am not really in a position to guarantee its
upkeep any longer.

I can set up the cron job for the update and get it restarted if that is
your preference.  I am out of the US for some months now and can't guarantee
continued attention for a while.

I feel badly about this, because LyX is a really good project.  I use it
extensively but sporadically, and my habit was to check the web site for
updates when I started a major piece of writing, then (since I was already
on the site) just update from the main site.

Sigh.

Thank you again for a really good piece of software.
