Maybe... the same as what we do for frontends if you think about it.

I am not sure either, that's why I have asked. But let's please try to not reinvent the wheel. Maybe fribidi support is independent of Qt RTL text support but I am almost sure that Pango overlap with Qt capabilities.

I don't enough about this (close to nothing really...) to comment any further so I'll let you guys handle it. I'll try to help when I come back.
