Indeed, they're more readable.

Ops, forgot to ":set expandtab" in vim. Why not put a
"# vim: set et ts=4 sw=4:" line at the end of python scripts?

I tested them on win32, cygwin, linux, and solaris using miktex,
tetex2 (doesn't allow spaces), and tetex3 (allows spaces).
They work like a charm and now there is no more that silly
"a b.dvi: No such file or directory" message from pplatex.
