does this mean we don't need shell anymore?Yes. No shell is needed for lyx/trunk now. The windows installer of lyx-1.4.3 (?) no longer has to bundle sh, sed, find etc.
when i launch lyx is see this in the command window: 'sh' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
