If LyX is important to them, having a newer version is more important
than having a newer linux. Just consider the fact that people do
download rpms from ftp.lyx.org, if you need to convince yourself.
By this logic, if LyX is important to them, they will install Qt4 also.
I am 100% sure there will be a lot of unofficial packages of it if their
very old distribution doesn't support officially.
I don't think I would ever be convinced by this argument... So no need
to discuss it any further ;-)
I guess the final decision to cease Qt3 support will eventually be made
based on technical merit and not on the Qt4 distribution support.
We'll see ;-)
