Mmmmm. There are so few active devs, that I think you have to be very careful
about introducing breaking changes. People will get frustrated if breakages
elsewhere prevent them working on the favoured project. (I'm sure you're aware
of this, so I'll stop making noise on this subject hereafter).

Of course, a real alternative to breaking head would be to essentially freeze
head and require development to continue in your branch. People could then port
stuff from the experimental branch back to a stable head.

There seems to be a lot of good stuff going on at the moment; would be a shame
to slow that down.

Just a thought (and not meant to irritate.)
