You are right, but the point of Joost was that LyX 1.4.x never generates DVI files with extra quotes, because the LyX generated filenames never contain a space: The filenames are mangled, and since all images are copied to the buffer directory they are all referenced as relative filenames (without the path that might contain spaces). Unless I oversee something the only possibility to get filenames with spaces ind hence the extra quotes in a dvi file from LyX is to use ERT or preamble stuff. Georg
