For what is worth, I have to say that the installer for 141 (dots 
abbreviated) actually works on Win98.  The problem starts on trying to 
get LyX to run. Crashes badly, without telling you why: only this 
bl**dy "Page" protection error/fault/whatever screen...

... however, LyX seems to be pretty happy while running on Cygwin, 
especially on top of the xforms library. So I think that's the way 
to lead our poor Win95/98 (and perhaps ME) users.
