No, it means that I was "playing detective": you said X, so I concluded Y.
Localization has always worked for me on linux where I also use
--with-version-suffix, so I've no reason to suppose it won't also
work on Windows.

Does localization works for you when you install your windows build on your PC and choose for example french menus when your installer asks you?

What I think the Windows build really needs is someone to set up a nightly
compilation similar to Kayvan's builds for Cygwin, Solaris, Linux. No, I'm not
volunteering; the build process needs to be fully automated first.

I always wanted to be able to compile it by myself, so let's start:
I just got a new fast computer and a copy of MSVC.
Do we have a msvc project file?
The last time I asked you for compilation details was 10 months ago, so could you please send me an email with a detailed step by step procedure to build LyX on windows. I mean all needed scripts etc. If we don't have a msvc project file, I can retry to compile LyX with mingw. The last time I tried to compile with mingw, my computer was busy for several hours - time that is normally needed for other processes and programs.

Btw. I have a patch for the configure file that comes with your Win build, but couldn't find this file in the svn-repository. The patch is trivial, it adds the lookup for win specific texteditors to be used to view the LaTeX output. Where can I find the file to make a diff?

thanks in advance and best regards
Uwe
