How is paragraph creation/deletion for you? Do you have a sensible delay
when you press "Enter" at the end of a paragraph in your big document?
FYI, the difference in scrolling speed using PageDown key between 141 wo
Natbib and 137 is not a good test WRT performance. This is because the
scrolling strategy has changed in 14x. This could be made quicker.

Yes, I do. This seems to explain a lot of the difference between 141 and
137, but not all.
I am working now on a different computer. It gives the following results
(Instant preview switched off, scrolling through the manuscript with
page down pressed.):
141 with Natbib: After one minute I have reached what corresponds to
page 18 on the PDF output of 250 pages. (did not wnat to wait 'till the
end.)
141 without Natbib: 1 min 31 seconds to scroll through the manuscript.
137 with or without Natbib: 31 seconds.
