fairly pointless. If it doesn't fail with -O0 it still doesn't tell us
much.
Yeah it does, IMO, it points to a (likely) compiler bug or a very
obscure coding error exposed only by gcc-4.1.x's optmizations.
From our (lyx dev/packager) pov, I'm hoping it's the former, so we can
blame someone else... (-;
