What do you mean?

1. Yes, I try to remember updating status.14x whenever committimg
2. Yes, I'll make a list of all change tracking -related patches in
trunk when the time comes to backport.

Yes, that was a design choice. Without it, selective redraw will
generate a hopeless mess of inset left and right edges, all in slightly
different places, due to variations in inset width as you type into it.
