It probably could even be removed (I don't like it either). However, while testing if bug 1823 will be revived by this, I found another bug which has been introduced with the latest ct changes: 1. new doc 2. type "a" 3. track changes 4. cut a 5. paste at the beginning of the document => Assertion triggered in void Changes::check() const by failing check "dont_assert" in file changes.C:493 Jürgen
