Note that you can revert to the old interface by selecting "classic"
in Tools/Preferences/User Interface.
True, but isn't that like putting ketchup on the entrée at a good
restaurant? Someone went to considerable trouble to improve the
interface, and far be it from me to turn up my nose at their efforts. :-)

I think so, but I cannot remember the reason.
I'm inclined to think that Insert is related to Edit. Presumably I can
swap them by hacking the .ui file, which I shall do when time permits.
