1. Since the default location of the preferences file in the LyX/Mac bundle has moved from LyX.app/Contents/Resources/LyX/preferences to LyX.app/Contents/Resources/preferences, this should be reflected in LyX.app/Contents/MacOS/lyxeditor (but currently isn't).
2. The default setting for path_prefix in the preferences file should include /opt/local/bin.
3. Currently, the preferences file sets defaults for server_pipe and template_path to ~/Library/Application Support/LyX-1.4...; that's what I intend to do when I package up the LyX/Mac binary, but that's because I'll use --with-version-suffix=-1.4 when configuring. By default (given the instructions in INSTALL.MacOSX), the "-1.4" suffix should not be in the preferences file, so I've removed it. (Is that the right thing to do? ... It would be better if this could be automatically generated at configure time....)
These won't significantly affect 1.4.0 (and I'll make the changes in my distribution in any case), but they should go in for 1.4.1.

It can be found here: <http://edisk.fandm.edu/bennett.helm/LyX/LyX- Metadata.mdimporter.zip>. This should go in at least for 1.4.1. (Again, I'll update my distribution for 1.4.0.)
