Yes, I believe so. More importantly, they both work. I've fixed the bugs that have plagued the generation of the path_prefix variable in the configure script and this in lyxrc.defaults. At least, I think I have :) Whether or not it works for you, if you run the installer from the console, you'll now get lots of useful debug info on error.
