I agree. For this reason I said that mine was not the right patch and
that LyX should provide a proper latex file to preview-latex.

By default, neither FoilTeX nor beamer explicitely use a font size
in the optional arguments of \documentclass. It's not a matter of
using 17pt, 25pt or whatever, but simply of using the default for
a given package, independently of what you choose in
Tools->Settings->Text Layout->Size.

I suspect that there is a misunderstanding here. I am talking about
the files that LyX constructs for the preview-latex thing, i.e., the
files named "#lyxpreview.tex", not the latex file used for typesetting
the final result.
