GUI Language Problems on Mac

A couple users have reported to me in response to my posting of LyX/ 
Mac-140-pre3 that GUI languages do not display properly: accents  
appear before characters in the menus ("'Editer" instead of "Éditer",  
for example). (I can reproduce this.)

This was previously discussed in <http://www.mail-archive.com/lyx- 
[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg70996.html>. The solution I outlined there  
(using LANG=fr_FR.ISO8859-1 instead of just LANG=fr or LANG=fr_FR)  
now seems to have no effect.

Any suggestions?
