originaldir means that the converter is run in the directory containing
the .tex file. Some strange converters need that, but appareantly not
latex2html.

Very bad. It looks like you have discovered a bug. Could you please file it
at http://bugzilla.lyx.org so that it does not get forgotten (including
this very nice problem analysis and the precise latex2html commandline
arguments that were used).
