It seems that a noticeable part of the delay happens if a font is not found. For example, I had no eufm10.ttf font installed because of the old bakoma license, and got a delay. I now have it, and that delay is gone, but LyX still can't find a symbol font (I have that, but qt won't find it, because it is in type1 format). Does anybody know if there is a free version of the standard postscript symbol font in truetype format?
