Hi

This is just an early warning^H^H^H^H^H^H^H blurb that I'm finally
upgrading the wiki to the new wiki engine. I've finally realised that I'm
unable to guarantee a perfectly smooth transition, so instead I'll just
plunge in and deal with any problems as they occur and get the thing over
with.

We're going from version 0.6 to 2.1, so there will be quite a few changes
but hopefully only for the better. The wiki markup has changed
substantially. However, this meant porting all the pages to the new
markup, which might have introduced errors. Anyway, the new wiki currently
resides here:

        http://wiki.lyx.org/test/wiki/pmwiki.php/LyX/Welcome

This will be moved to replace the new wiki in a day or two. When this
happens, I'll first manually transfer any changes that have been made to
old wiki in between. Feel free to check it out and report any problems
etc. There has been no "styling" whatsoever, so if anyone feels it should
have a certain look (and can provide me with instructions), let me know.

The major difference in markup is that all links should from now on be
written within square brackets, like this for instance:

        [[Welcome]]

In addition, all "directives" are now written within (:...:), e.g.

        (:include Welcome:)

The idea is that this will make things more consistent.

Another difference is that so called CamelCase (or WikiWords) are being
depreceated. If you wonder why, one reason is to avoid having every
occurence of LyX, LaTeX, BibTeX etc being changed into a link. Right now
you have to write e.g. [=LyX=] to avoid it from becoming a link. From now
on, the idea is that you should only get links when you explicitly
indicate this (by using double square brackets).

best regards
/Christian
