This is a feature/bug of sendmail. Considering the dominance of this
program, I would not say it is only "Bo's mail program".

I still do not get it. Who should be responsible for fixing this? Mail
client or server? I tried the very basic "mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] < a
lyx" file on a unix machine (sendmal is used) and the converted file
is in my /var/mail/username. Neither MS/OE nor Linux/Mutt convert the
dots back .

If kde/kmail knows this problem and take the responsiblility to remove
the dots, I am wondering why OE/Mutt do not do it.

There is no easy way to fix the mail servers/clients, so a change in
lyx is easier. Afterall, there is a much higher chance in .lyx file to
have such dots than a pdf/ps/doc file. (period after citation is quite
common).

Cheers,
Bo
