Good news. This lokked like a very scary bug :)

Perhaps I spoke too soon. Looking back, Stephen reported the bug for lyx-1.3.6, and I confirmed it on 1.3.6. However, I've been unable to compile lyx-1.3.x for several months now:

lyx-1.3.x won't compile with gcc-3.3: <http://www.mail-archive.com/ lyx-devel@lists.lyx.org/msg80743.html>

lyx-1.3.x won't compile with gcc-2.95: <http://www.mail-archive.com/ lyx-devel@lists.lyx.org/msg80742.html>

I just tried successfully to get lyx-1.3.x to compile with gcc-4.0.1 (newly released by Apple), though it refuses to run (complaining about a bus error; I'll elaborate in another thread). However, gcc-4 is not a good solution for LyX/Mac in general, since it requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or greater. For now, I think, we should at least make it work on 10.2.

In short, I can't confirm whether this bug is fixed on 1.3.x.
