Hi,
I have all my LyX documents shared via SVN. We are also using it for concurrent

editing. SVN merging tools are quite good in merging LyX files...
The only trouble is when you get a conflict. Then you must do diff3 of the
relevant files and you must be careful not to miss any lyx tag.
However, LyX fileformat is pretty readable, so I have successfully resolved
every conflict so far, without any loss of work.

So, for me, the current capabilities of LyX are sufficient for collaborative
writing, meaning update-and-commit cycles, not really character-by-character
collaboration.

I miss just one feature: checking for changes of the .lyx file by other
applications.
The trouble is that some people update their files on the hard drive, but keep
their document open in LyX, which is then not reloaded. Next time they hit
Save, they overwrite the file by an old version...

Best,

Vasek
