Wow, at last some light at the end of the tunnel. I had lyx installed in c:\program files\ and msys was in c:\ (that was the default for me too similar to Stephen) Like Stephen mentioned, that seemed to be the problem. I reinstalled lyx in c: and now I am able to access Tex Information and the bst files. Thanks a lot guys Sree I am very happy for you! Paul realized it was a spaces in directory name problem and that msys.bat had to be in C:\msys\1.0 rather than elsewhere. I read http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/LyX136 Ekkehart Schlicht emphasizes: "Although LyX swallows path and folder names with blanks (such as C:\Program Files\.) this is not necessarily true for the other programs, and it is recommended to install them in the default locations suggested by the programs, or in paths without blanks (such as C:\Programs\.), just to be on the safe side." Not exactly as expected but this worked out, hope this post isn't mangled. Better safe than sorry, Stephen
