The installation of the helper programs went very smoothly with the 1.3.6cvs October, 2004 release.
However, under "New From Template" the templates mostly produce the missing TeX class * error, which is similar to 1.3.5. Also under File-->Open-->Examples -->chessgame.lyx produces the same type of error. It doesn't crash Lyx as reported in another bug post. I remember installing the Windows port of Lyx 7 or 8 years ago and it took a couple of days. This latest install took about 20 minutes (I had Aspell & GS)! A vast improvement, Stephen
