I have found that the same problem appears if from the command line I try to execute "acrobat file.pdf". However, if I just write "file.pdf" the file is opened (it is the same as clicking twice on it from the explorer window). The problem will be solved if in Preferneces, for the PDF viewer, we write:

<full_path_to_file>\$$i

where <full_path_to_file> is the temporary folder where the pdf file is, e.g. C:\tools\latex\lyx136\temp\lyx_tmpdir9052a12068\lyx_tmpbuf1

So, my question is now:
How can we get that path? I guess it must be stored in some variable.

Silly question indeed!

It's possible to do what I proposed by writing as pdf viewer ".\$$i"

This works fine to open the file with acrobat the first time (no error even if it is already opened), but if the file is modified and we call again view (or update) pdf, we still get the old version of the file! :-(
