OK. I am a bit worried though about this metrics/draw thing, and would like to understand why. Redefine mi.base.font, and pi.base.font seems to be already OK. I just don't want to contribute to more muddled thinking by building on simething that I (or anyone else) doesn't really understand. But I'll check it in if if nobody objects.
