The selection stuff did not improve for me, though.

I get: (2+3)1++4 still. Or was this meant to be used cumulatively
with your earlier patch?` I skipped that one, believing this
was a newer iteration of the whole thing. Or should I do a cvs update again?
This patch applied with no errors of any kind.
I added the "cut/paste in nestinsets" patch to this, and it made no difference. It applied with no errors, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Pressing END is still okay. Selecting something in the middle of math before applying parantheses (or a wide hat) still moves the selection to the start of the math inset while adding the () or the ^.
Now trying a cvs update . . .
