I tried to use a xfig inset in lyx-1.4cvs
It looks nice in lyx which now is able to display the figure, and it is supposed to work both for latex and pdflatex exports.
Unfortunately, it works for neither when I try. I get a complaint that the pdftex_t (or the pstex_t) file is missing, and that's it.
Known issue, or should I prepare a more detailed bugreport?

Are you using an "non-installed" lyx installation? Then the
I use version-suffix because I also have lyx 1.3 as a fallback. I have compiled with 'make' and installed with 'make install' as root. Then I ran tools->reconfigure as user, and restarted lyx-1.4cvs.
When using view->dvi I first get a box telling me that an empty output file was generated. After that I get a strange box with two textboxes. The upper textbox contains the following text, which is higlighted in reverse video. I hade to type it, because it cannot be cut&pasted: LaTeX Error: File`0_www_www_aitel_hist_no_fag_alm_lukket_lek06_lf613.pstex_t The lower textbox contains this, which could be cut&pasted: ...ist_no_fag_alm_lukket_lek06_lf613.pstex_t} ^^M *** (cannot \read from terminal in nonstop modes)
view->pdflatex is similiar, first I get the box about
generation of an empty file, then the second box with:
latex error:file`0_www_www_aitel_hist_no_fag_alm_lukket_lek06_lf613.pdftex_
note the missing 't' at the end, I expected it to end in pdftex_t. Short buffer?
The lower box contains: ...st_no_fag_alm_lukket_lek06_lf613.pdftex_t} ^^M *** (cannot \read from terminal in nonstop modes)
The error message facilities certainly have some rough edges. Two boxes in a row, and the last one was strange. Of course a working lyx is much more important than pretty error messages. :-)
problem is that the scripts in lib/scripts (needed for this) are not found. You can add this dir to the path and see if it helps.
My ~/.lyx-1.4cvs/scripts is empty. My /usr/local/lib seems to not contain any "scripts".
Doing a export PATH=$PATH:/usr/src/lyx-devel/lib/scripts before running lyx did not help at all.
