Does the same thing happen if you load a read-only document?


No.  Loading a read-only document the normal way:
"new document" "open document" "save document" and "print document"
is active.  Also,  "text style" "paragraph settings" and "TOC" is active,
I presume this is so one can look at the settings.  Changes are impossible.

There is one bug - the spellchecker is active for readonly documents,
and I can freely replace stuff whenever the ispell find something it
doesn't like. The document changes, but of course I cannot save
into the original file.  Lyx kindly offer to rename and try saving again.

Opening the help documents using "help->..." also gives me printable help.
I think it only is that first-time document, perhaps it is opened via a
different mechanism or before the buttons are initialized?
