It was ok that you sent the files to the list (although one .lyx file and 
one .tex file would have been enough). I don't want them privately. On 
the list, they get archived and are searchable.

I could reproduce it. The strange thing is that the tex output of LyX 
1.4cvs adds even more spaces but works nevertheless:

\noindent CORONATION, n. The ceremony of investing a sovereign with
the outward and visible signs of his divine right to be blown skyhigh
with a dynamite bomb.

\medskip{}




\noindent CORPORAL, n. A man who occupies the lowest rung of the military


So this seems to be one of the LaTeX peculiarities. Is any LaTeX expert 
out here who can explain why it is like that and wether we need to change 
something in LyX?
