Sure it does. I have FC3 here and I've just fired up LyX 1.3.x and created a formula a+b^2. Perfect. Trying LyX 1.4.x... yup, fine. Of course, I don't know what a dead key is, but the compose key works for me, see: José, André, João, Bjønnes. Ahhhhh. The compose key does not work in LyX. Boo! But it does work in KDE apps like this knode composer screen. -- Angus
