Why would people have to uninstall anything? I can imagine C:\Program Files\LyX\1.3.6\{bin,share} user lyxdir: C:\Documents and Settings\Angus\Application Data\LyX\1.3.6 Coexisting quite happily with C:\Program Files\LyX\1.4.0\{bin,share} user lyxdir: C:\Documents and Settings\Angus\Application Data\LyX\1.4.0 > Angus> I propose a directory 'C:\Program Files\LyX\1.3.6' containing > Angus> sub-directories 'bin', 'locale' and 'share'. Of course, that should have been "sub-directories 'bin' and 'share', the 'share' directory itself containing directories 'lyx' and 'locale'." if it were to have a structure similar to that on a Posix machine. That seems like a lot of levels of nested directories ;-) Given your statement that the 'locale' directory is to be found as a subdirectory of the LyX system directory on MacOS X, I'll modify my proposal to a directory C:\Program Files\LyX\1.3.6 containing sub-directories 'bin' and 'Resources'. The 'Resources' directory will be the system lyxdir and will contain a subdirectory 'locale'. In other words, the directory structure on Windows will be similar to that on MacOS X. Please correct me if I've got things wrong. -- Angus
