Then I have two question:

1/ should it? We could just have an empty screen in this case.

2/ wouldn't it be more economical memory-wise to re-read it when we
need it?

Also, are we sure that we do not have one copy of the banner in memory
and one in the X server?

This account for 9.3% of total memory, after all... Although it occurs
to me that it may be related to the fact that we use a full-color
image in HEAD instead of the usual boring banner.
