Maybe I shouldn't comment on C++ programming style, but for
a Java programmer NVI doesn't feel good. Do you have a scenario
where NVI saves the day?

The other part is that your first two arguments are generic and could be
applied to almost any code rewrite ("Look, I replaced all whitespace by
single blanks and also renamed all functions to short names consisting of
a single letter and a number. The benefit is that the code looks all the same
now and I also fixed a null pointer exception on the way ...").

If you are convinced by NVI you should sell it by its own merits.
And probably you shouldn't sell it to me but to the rest of the team ;-)
