  John,
       note that Standard is not a textclass, but a paragraph/layout of
almost every textclass. Also we have support in the textclass for defining a
default paragraph, that not the Standard.

       In other words I don't think we should allow exceptions in this area.
An external tool to verify the validity of those it makes sense. :-)
